Rev. Posted Oct. 22, '11.  We involve people from the community interested in playing tennis and who share
responsibilities for planning, operations and maintenance of the Club and its programs.  We have an Executive
Committee whose members guide the Club and are each elected at our Annual General Meeting held in the fall of the
year.  Our Club is one of 19 in the Scarborough community working within the Scarborough Tennis Federation (STF) to
promote and enjoy the game of tennis.  The STF is an autonomous region within the Ontario Tennis Federation (OTA).
By virtue of our membership in the STF, each Club member also belongs to the Ontario Tennis Association.

You must be a Prime-time member of the Club to participate in any of our programs.

Club Professional.  Brian Hurd is our Professional and Head Tennis Coach.  Brian is the owner of Pickering Tennis
Pros and a Level 2 OTA coach.  You will find information on his company at
www.pickeringtennispros.com   For over
a decade Brian has worked full-time as a professional tennis coach in the West Durham area where he has attracted
and developed a good number of talented tennis players.  Some have now qualified as coaches themselves and work
with him.  Specific information on the programs Brian and his Team are offering to our Club can be found on the
Lessons & Activities page on this website.  Please take a look and sign-up for those of interest to you.  I look forward
to seeing the skill levels of our members grow through the efforts of Brian and his staff.

In January 2011, Brian and your Executive Committee had a good discussion about our expectations and his responses
to them such that Brian will continue to have a personal overview of all our programs throughout the season even when
they are delivered by his staff.  A review of his successful first year with our Club will take place at our Executive
Committee meeting in January 2012.  The results of this review will be reported to our Members via our Members Only
Page.

If you wish to have private or semi-private lessons to help you, especially if you are a beginner or you wish to accelerate
the development of your tennis skills, please contact
www.pickeringtennispros.com  to make arrangements directly.

Juniors Program:  Activities will again include five Saturday lessons, an Opening Day BBQ and the season will
continue with fun and competitive house leagues, tournaments and opportunities to play in competitive leagues,
provided there is sufficient support from our Junior members.   All costs are included in the Junior Members' fee or your
Family fee.

Families:  Family court time is intended as a time for member parents to play tennis with their children without concerns
for disrupting a competitive adult game. The time identified for this is from 6 pm to 7 pm each weekday evening.

Adult/Senior Members Lessons:  Please see our new page Lessons & Activities where details of these and other
programs, such as Doubles Tactics, will be found once the details are available in late winter 2012.

Adult Social:  See our Calendar of Events page.  Throughout each season we hold social events and opportunities
to meet our fellow club members.  These include: Our annual season opener Wine and Cheese evening; fun
tournaments such as the Iron Man/Iron Woman; Mixed Luck of the Draw; Opening Day BBQ; doubles strategy clinics,
clinics and tennis aerobics on demand; House League BBQ; end of season House League Dinner and our final event of
the 2011 season, our
Annual Awards Banquet & Dance this year on Saturday, November 12, at the
WRCC.

Adult Doubles House Leagues:  Our Adult House Leagues are organized in two separate sessions.  The Spring
session will begin in late May to mid-July.  The Summer/Fall session then runs from mid-July to the end of September.
Play is for one hour each from 7 pm to 10 pm, on two week nights.  Monday evening Ladies Doubles begin at 7 pm
followed by Mens Doubles at 8 pm and conclude at 10pm.  Wednesday evenings, Mixed Doubles play starts at 7 pm and
conclude at 10 pm.  Each Play costs $15.  You may sign-up for as many sessions as you choose.  For example, if you
play Ladies (Mens) only in the Spring session it will cost you $15.  If you play both Ladies (Mens) and Mixed doubles in
both the Spring and Summer/Fall sessions, it will cost you 4 x $15 = $60.  Spares' lists are maintained for all sessions.

For playing schedules and Spares' lists please click on
Members Only Page on the main panel of the Home page of
this website.

Competitive Inter-Club Teams:  Our Club will field three competitive teams to play against other Scarborough Tennis
Federation (STF) clubs this year.  Play is on a weekly basis, both home and away, beginning early-May through mid-
August. These teams provide good competitive play and excellent opportunities to develop your game.  Try-outs for
these Teams will be held in late April and our best players will then be selected to represent our Club.  Each Team
consists of a minimum of 6 men and 4 ladies with additional players acting as spares or on rotation.  Games alternate
between home and away and begin at 7 pm.  Each Team fields two men’s doubles, a ladies doubles, and two mixed
doubles. This year we will again field three Teams, one at the C1 Level (lowest skill level) and two at the B1 Level.  The
C1 Team, Captained by Bob Bracht will play on Tuesday evenings and the two B1 Teams (Captains Marc Stefan and
Debbie Page) on Thursday evenings. The schedule of our two B1 Teams has been arranged so that one Team will play
at home while the other Team plays away.  For more information of our STF Inter-Club Team play contact Anne
Sonnbichler through

Club Championship Tournaments:  During late summer evenings we hold our annual Club Championships to
determine our Club's:  Singles top Man, Singles top Lady, Mens' Doubles, Ladies Doubles and Mixed Doubles
champions.  Trophies and accolades go with these honours and are presented at our Annual Awards Night Banquet and
Dance on November 12, 2011.

Annual Awards Banquet and Dance:  After the conclusion of our season, we hold our Annual Awards Night
Banquet and Dance
at the West Rouge Community Centre. This year on Saturday, November 12, 2011 we will
celebrate the past season and recognize our champions along with those who have made significant contributions to the
functioning of the Club.  A catered dinner, DJ and dancing with prizes will contribute to a great evening.

Fees this year:  Please go to the Membership page on this website for details.  We last increased our fees in 2011 with
the full increase placed in our Courts Maintenance Fund.  All public courts in the City of Toronto are owned by the City.
Any Club leasing these courts, as the WRTC does, is required to pay 50% of all maintenance costs expended by the
City on those courts, as soon as the work is completed.  These costs are expected to be in the neighbourhood of
$25,000 in 2112.  Had we not taken this action to augment our "rainy day fund", the WRTC would not have been able to
pay its share of this work in later years.

How to join the WRTC:   Simply complete the Membership and House League Application Form found on this website
and send it along with your fees based on what options you select, as shown on that form.  Further information on the
scope of our events over the year can be found on our
Calendar of Events page and on other pages of this website.
